Danshui

After church on Sunday we went to the sea-side town of Danshui. Our Taiwanese friend, Jessamine (on the far left in the photo below) lives there so we had a local guide showing us around.

From left, Jessamine, Christina, Chrissy, Pheonix, Megan, Andrew and Yuki.
We are standing infront of a sculpture of the Canadian Presbyterian missionary, Rev John MacKay, who came to Danshui in the late 1800s. He brought western medicine, education and religion to Taiwan.

Taiwan's first church, founded by Rev Dr John MacKay.

This is Taiwan's first university, again founded by Rev Dr MacKay.

Chrissy practices a little ruggers at the site of the first Taiwanese Rugby Team!

Just a quiet Sunday afternoon in Danshui..... (apparently this is normal!)

We also visited the Fisherman's Warf. It was a great place to watch the sun go down.
