Enjoying food with Americans

On Saturday night we went over to Ron & Elinda's house for dinner. They have been in Taiwan for 27 years and are therefore great sources of information and advice on Taiwan.

Elinda cooked us a fantastic mexican dinner and we had a lot of fun. A lot of the conversation centered around food. American food. Ron & Elinda are from Southern USA and three of the other guests were also from the US.


Mike and I have come to the conclusion that Americans are obsessed with food. Not as much as the Taiwanese but certainly more than NZ (as we remember it!)

We recently watched the documentary Super Size Me. And were shocked to see the size of McDonald's meals. Then on Saturday night our friends verified the facts for us.

We look forward to coming home and seeing how big people are and how big the meal portions are too!
